Reflection (performance)

So far, we have practiced all the songs and its sounds good. We first practiced Greased Lightning, then Candy and then Wavin' Flag. I think that Greased Lightning is the best for some shocking reason ;) because it sounds electrifying ;). Overall, I think the progress that we have done is very good, knowing the time we have is very little. The only thing we haven't really discussed about is the transition between the songs.

Reflection - Wavin' Flag

4th of June, today I finally found my role in Wavin' Flag. My role is to play the kolintang, I didn't know what was my role at first but then my friend Jeza helped me realize what I really wanted to play. In the beginning, it was hard remembering the  notes and keys of Wavin' Flag but after awhile, it gets easier and easier with the help of my friends.

More Reflection (Wavin' Flag)

On the 3rd of June 2015, today other than learning and practicing Candy. We also started  Wavin' Flag for the first time. Though I didn't do anything for Wavin' Flag, we watched the singers of Wavin' Flag sing the song. During the singing practice,we had to replace Chan temporarily with Adam because he was absent. I think Adam's voice was very good, the fact that he had to take someone else's role and try to sing it at his best. Other than that, we also saw the drummer and also the guitar players and also the piano player play the song. 

Reflection

3rd June 2015, today we still continued Candy and we are getting better. Today, we repeated and practiced the song over and over again to fix the problems of the song. I think after a few tries, we finally figured it out and we sound more confident than before. We also practiced the ending, the class decided it would be better and easier if we just played the normal part of the song as the ending.

Reflection

On 1st of June 2015, we continued to practice Candy. This week, we are continuing and focusing more towards Candy because it is one of the songs that we have not done yet. I think Candy sounds very nice and we performed it pretty well. Today, other than practice, we also discussed more about the ending of the song, though the ending of Candy is still undecided, we are still practicing the song and focusing more towards the parts of the song.

Late Reflection

Last week on the 28th of May, we finally almost completed Greased Lightning and we are starting to practice Candy. This is the first time we practice candy because before this week, we have been practicing Greased Lightning from beginning to end and I think its worth it because now, we sound better than before. As we start practicing candy, we had to figure out many things like the solo and parts of the song but in the end, we did figure it out except the ending of the song. Also, we had to change keys for Candy so that the singers could sing the song better.

Reflection

Now that we have already finished investigating and finalizing all our ideas, we are now starting the phase of practising the music. Now, my job while everyone starts practicing is to figure out the performance transitions with Jeza, Ajie, and Kenneth. At first, it was hard but now things are getting easier.

Final investigation

In the final weeks of our investigation, we had already picked our final ideas. We had 2 final ideas, which were acting out music videos and songs that changed the world but in the end, we chose acting out music videos because it was easier to perform a music video rather than finding songs that really changed the world.

From week 1 until week 3 we came with some ideas and from those weeks, we gathered a lot  of great ideas. The whole class had to brainstorm ideas and by the end of week 3, we chose the ideas that we really like to perfom for our performance.

Narrowing down ideas (Reflection)

What I can reflect from narrowing down the ideas is that there are many good ideas for a performance but there are only some that can be used. Like for example in our class, in the beginning, there were 20 ideas and then, it became 12 ideas  and then, finally to 10 ideas. I think it was good that narrowed down the ideas or else we would we have so many ideas. :)

Medley investigation

The topic that I had to investigate is medley. My group for this topic is Edo and Kenneth. The definition of medley is that medley is a mix of songs with the same concept. Some ideas that we have come up with while doing the investigation is:

• medley bands 
• medley using emotions like love songs and revenge songs and etc.
• themes like seasons, year, top 3 songs of 1994, etc.
• medley of a certain artist or band
• medley with a certain genre, genres like classicla, pop, rock, etc.

Out of all the ideas, we came up with 3 best ideas and they were genre, instrumental medley, and theme. We chose these 3 ideas as our best ideas because they sounded nice to play and they are also unique in some way.
